The Best Time of Year to Get Married in Northeast Ohio

The Midwest is known for its ever changing weather patterns and Northeast Ohio is no different. We love it and we hate it, all the same. But when wedding days roll around, we say our prayers and cross our fingers, hoping that it all works out in your favor.

After planning weddings in Ohio for about 4 years we’ve found that some seasons are better than others, so here's our top times of the year to get married:

September

September is at the top of the list because all month long the temperature is prime. Hence why it’s also one of the busiest months in the Ohio wedding world. This is the time of year we would most highly recommend hosting an outdoor reception. Once the evening hour hits, the air cools and you can almost always comfortably dance the night away, letting your guests soak up the last of the bits of summer. Rain is always a possibility in Ohio but historically not too frequent in September.

Early June

Early June is an Anna Kay & Co. personal favorite. It’s technically part of the spring season but the rain clouds are seen far less often. The school year has ended so everyone seems to have a fresh summer buzz about them. Temperatures are getting warmer but you likely won’t be seeing any 90+ sweltering hot days.

Early October

If you want color in Ohio, you’ll only find it in October. You may see hints of orange and red during the tail end of September but the colors come out in full force in October and are gone by November. Truly the best colors are mid to late October but the weather can be a bit dicey. We have seen snow in October before, which is why we recommend hosting your event in the earlier weeks of October before the weather becomes too unpredictable.

May

Finally, May. We love May and all that comes with a spring wedding —fresh flowers, new beginnings and green grass. May is especially great because the temperature is perfect, on a sunny day it’s just warm enough to feel the sun on your skin and want to soak it all up without overheating. However, in all fairness May does still have a decent amount of rain. We have been a part of weddings that have been severely impacted by May’s spring showers, not only on their wedding day but in the days leading up to the event. Rain creates mud and mud can make an outdoor event very difficult. If you pick May as your month of choice, you should always have a planning team that expertly knows how to implement a rain plan!

Whatever month you may choose, we are rooting for the weather to be exactly how you envision it to be, if only we could control it. Trust us, if we could, we would. Ohio, we love you so.
